Festival Guidelines & Regulations

Smoked Country Jam should be an enjoyable experience for everyone. For your safety and protection of the venue, there are a few guidelines that we are asking everyone to follow.  Doing so will help make the Smoked Country Jam a wonderful experience.

IMPORTANT: Due to insurance liability concerns, unless "handicapped driver" permits  are issued by your state licensing agency, festival attendees will not be permitted to operate motorized  recreational vehicles (4-wheelers, golf carts, etc.) at SCJ .  We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we must follow the wishes of the property owners.

Wristbands: Must be worn at all times.  Stretched or torn wristbands will not be honored.  Entering the festival without paying is trespassing.  Freeloading, stealing, and cheating kills the scene.  Don't let it happen.

Pets: Allowed in the campground area only.  Please control your pets at all times - by leash or by command. No pets in the festival grounds.

Fireworks are prohibited: Setting off fireworks will result in expulsion from the festival.  The noise and the potential fire hazard pose too great a risk.

Bottles, Cans, & Kegs: Do not bring kegs to the festival.  Please NO GLASS bottles.  Broken glass & bare feet do not go together.

This is a LITTER FREE FESTIVAL: Please help contain the trash.  Recycle all aluminum. Take out what you bring in. Use the recycling bins located throughout the festival grounds.

Vehicles: Only vehicles belonging to campers are allowed in the camping area.  No unauthorized vehicles allowed in the festival stage area.

Canned Music: Picking and singing is encouraged, as it adds to the festiveness of the event.  Do not play any recorded music on stereos or car systems.

Campfires: Must be properly barricaded and contained.  Share a fire with your camping neighbor whenever possible, so we don't have fires everywhere.

Quiet in the Camping Area: In order for everyone to have a great time, please keep the non-music related noise down in the camping area after the stage closes down.

Unauthorized Vending & Distributing Literature: You may not sell anything on the festival grounds unless you have a permit.  Ask to pass out literature at the festival and campground.

Generators: Please respect sleeping neighbors and shut down generators at a reasonable hour.

Weapons: Anyone seen with any type of weapon will be escorted from the grounds, without refund.

No illegal substances: No exceptions ~ you will be asked to leave the festival, without refund.

Being Prepared at the Festival

Smoked Country Jam will be a blast for everyone who attends.  And, it can be even more of a blast if you come prepared.  Here are a few helpful suggestions to allow the first-time festival goers to have the most enjoyable experience possible.

Hotels, Motels, B&Bs: Make reservations where you will be staying.  There is a lot going on in the area during the summer, so it would be wise to call several months in advance to book your room. There is a list of all the lodging in the area on our web site.

Camping & Campground Access: The festival offers primitive camping, on a first come, first serve basis. There is a one time campground fee of $5 fee for each adult ticket.  Kids under 16 camp for free. All those wanting to go to the campground must pay the $5 fee.

What to Bring to the Festival

If you have a tent or trailer, you've probably camped before, so there is no reason to tell you what you should bring. But be prepared for any kind of weather: wet, dry, sunny, cloudy, hot, or cold.  The festival goes on, rain or shine. Here are some things that you don't want to forget:

  • Chairs - for festival & campground.
  • Blankets - for ground comfort and/or warmth.
  • Baggage carrier, wagon, or backpack - To carry essentials from campground.
  • Sunscreen - for you and the little ones.
  • Wet wipes - Antiseptic & hand wash.
  • Toilet paper - you never know.
  • Hats - there isn't a lot of shade.
  • Insect repellent - nothing is more irritating than those little gnats.
  • Beverage cups - all beverages should be in them.
  • Fanny pack - Keep your valuables on you, not beside you.
  • Rain gear - the festival is rain or shine. Be courteous with tarps and umbrellas. Please don't block the view of those behind you.
  • Water - Bring water in gallon jugs, and freeze it if you want cold water.
  • Instruments - believe it or not, some folks buy tickets and never go to the stage. They just sit and pick in the campgrounds, and have a blast! It has been rumored that some just keep playing all night!!!
  • Flashlights - for finding your way back to the tent late at night.
  • First aid kit - your little ones and big ones can get scrapes.
  • Earplugs - if you want to go to sleep early or sleep in quiet.
  • Games & activity books - for times when there are no scheduled kid's activities
